Cat+Dog
You may have seen "Boxing Kitty" under the Moving Pictures tab. But did you know Kitty has a little friend? His name is Doggy.
And did you know Kitty originally was going to be called Nekokun? And Doggy Inukun?
Originally the animation was going to use both characters. Doggy is technically speaking just a variation on Kitty. Same proportions, same arms and legs. So once Kitty was set up for animation, Doggy would be up and running in no time. Easy.
Or so we thought. Animators always underestimate their workload. They have to. Otherwise they wouldn't be animators to begin with.
In the end, the entire Funny Little Men crew unanimously felt that animating one character was enough of a challenge. Doggy remains to this day a half-finished character, one of the many things we started and never finished. we're still very fond of Doggy. He and Kitty would make a good duo. Doggy would very much be the long-suffering straight man next to the mischievous Kitty.
We also ended up shying away from that grainy old-film vignette look you see in the still image as it was a bit too much of a cliché.
